This weekend I was invited to visit the Forbidden Corner for a friend’s birthday. On the website it says:
‘The Forbidden Corner is a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers, follies and surprises created within a four acre garden in the heart of Tupgill Park and the Yorkshire Dales. The temple of the underworld, the eye of the needle, a huge pyramid made of translucent glass, paths and passages that lead nowhere, extraordinary statues – at every turn there are decisions to make and tricks to avoid.’
This place is really hard to explain in a few words but basically you spend a few hours of your life exploring a huge maze of woodland, caves and gardens! And it is brilliant.
We started with the most amazing cake I’ve had in a very long time, which was actually vegan. I was really impressed how lovely it was….and it also looked amazing!
Like I said it’s hard to explain, so instead check out a few of the photos from the day!
This frog fountain had a water display, which I’m pretty sure was all about just getting the visitors wet. It failed though, as we were all already soaked from the earlier downpour.
This glass pyramid was so pretty, all you wanted to do was run your fingers all over it. Later we actually passed underneath this, which was fascinating.
Some bears cheating at poker in the middle of the forest.
The doorway was the exit from a passageway that got smaller and smaller, I managed to squeeze through and was very proud of myself!!! Woooooooo!
This place has multiple chances to get soaking wet. I definitely advise clothes you don’t mind getting wet, so you can really get stuck in with the fun. Mine have already gone through the washing machine.
He is pretty cool, don’t you think? He’s the one who points the way at the beginning, so you really get an idea of what you’re in for from the very start. The whole experience is a bit out of this world. I think we walked around the site for nearly 4 hours.
So after all that walking we sat down in the cafe, because of course this blog wouldn’t be complete without a picture of a cup of tea! The slice was yummy also.
Lastly I absolutely adored their bathroom 😀 Felt like I was in a Hogwarts bathroom….you know the one!
I would definitely recommend a visit to this place, especially if you have kids but it’s still very fun if you don’t.
I say, Go and discover some strange and wonderful things!
Back soon x
